The Mutiny Brides
In 1719 a group of women were sent in chains to the barren coast of what later became New Orleans. They endured a grueling 10-week crossing over the Atlantic during the winter, they were then left on a deserted island with nothing but their wits to survive. Their courage and determination not only resulted in their survival, but these women went on to become the mothers and wives of the founding families of French and Creole society in New Orleans.
